Digital Photography Basics :

Classes will be $60 each or $275 for the full course.
*participants limited to 4 per class and preference will be given to those wishing to enroll for the entire course.

This course is for those who are using SLR camera’s and would like to expand their current knowledge and understanding of Aperture, Shutter Speed, ISO , and other camera functions. We will discuss composition, and lighting as well. A basic introduction to both Photoshop and Lightroom as well. This course is a basic overview and is meant for the serious amature, or aspiring professional.

This course will meet From 6-10pm on :
1/14- Aperture, Shutter Speed and ISO – a general introduction
2/4- composition, lighting
2/11- lighting patterns (portrait lighting)
3/4- Making the shot and putting together – Aperture, ISO, Shutter speed, Composition and Lighting
3/11- Photoshop and Lightroom
3/25- Bringing it all together

Full day Sunday Classes:
Classes will be held from 1:30-10pm (meal included)
(This is to accommodate those who have church; if the class is filled and no one has a restriction I’m happy to start the classes earlier!)

My approach is to be hands on whatever it is we are to be learning for the day expect to be doing it! This means if we are working with software you should bring a laptop or an imac – I may have an extra machine available if you don’t have one of these but it will be first come first served! You can still get tons of great information if you are unable to have a computer to work on, but you will get the most out of the course if you are able to work on each section along with me.
Networking – $75 1/25
This course is open to individuals in any profession who wants to start making more out of their business connections, we’ll discuss why networking is valuable to us all and how to make the most out of it. The most expensive thing in owning a business is attracting new clients so we will share ideas on how to network with other local businesses to bring in more clients. We’ll also talk about customer retention programs and how to build a strong Referral business.

Portrait retouching 101- $225 1/18
This course we will spend the day working in Photoshop using layers and and various tools to do a basic portrait retouching, learn how to clean up acne and other skin damage, lessen wrinkles, smooth skin and make those eyes pop! We will explore : dodge, burn, history brush, snapshots, layer masks, filters, actions. I will also teach you how to do a “head swap” which can be handy when working with a group of children.

Simple Effective Workflow- $150 2/8
This course is a daylong walk thru your workflow from the first contact with your client thru the delivery, we will talk about the steps you need to take to streamline your workflow! In this course we will touch upon several different software packages as well as various plug in’s and actions. This course will indroduce Lightroom, and Photoshop, but should not be considered a tutorial in either. Spend the day and design your own fool proof system to client satisfaction.

Designing in Photo Shop-$250 2/22
Learn to lay out your own marketing materials, create invitations, Christmas cards, and other collage for your clients. This course will explore Layers, Masking, Blending Options, Brushes and more.

Branding your Business- $75 1/20
Branding is one of the most important aspects of any business, large or small, retail or B2B. An effective brand strategy gives you a major edge in increasingly competitive markets. But what exactly does “branding” mean? How does it affect a small business like yours?
Well, consider that brand name recognition can increase your profits by between 10 to 20 percent. If you are looking to increase your profits, then you may come to understand the importance of branding. In this one-day course we will work on picking out the core values of your business and how you can use those to build your brand!

Come be a geek and get an overview on all of our gear how to use it, and why we use it.
We’ll go over, off camera flash both Speedlites and strobes, light modifiers, softboxes, umbrellas, gobo’s, barndoors, grids and more. Light meters, pocketwizards, Bring your own gear as well and see how crazy and creative we can get!

Portrait lighting:$150 3/22
This workshop will cover the basics of portrait lighting, learn the classic lighting structures and how to modify them, we will work with both strobe and natural lighting to ensure you have a full understanding of how to find and create the lighting you want

Lightroom:$100 2/17
Taking post production to the next level, this is a one day immersion into how to use Lightroom to speed up your work flow maximize what it can do for you!
